Double Page Spread Interview - Edited

Below is the edited version of my interview, after making minor corrections.

Hey! How are you feeling today?

Hi! I’m fine thanks. It’s actually my first proper interview with a magazine, so I’m really excited to be here.

Well, I guess I’ll be the first interviewer to say welcome to the music world! So let’s start off with the basics. How did it all happen? Must seem crazy right?

(Laughs) Thanks! (Smiles) Yeah, looking back on it, it seems really crazy! Well, I was a normal girl singing in local places, such as parties and pubs, just as a hobby, since I was also studying in college. My friend took me to a recording studio for my 18th birthday as a present. I just thought it’d be fun to try out something like that. And plus, you can’t really reject a present can you? (Smiles) But at the same time, a producer from EMI was there and heard me sing. Afterwards, he approached me and asked if he could take my CD with him. Somehow, I just mumbled ‘sure,’ and gave him my number, and he called the next day with the offer of signing me up and now, here I am. (Smiles)

Wow, sounds like the perfect discovery story! You’re only 18. How are you dealing with your new found fame?

Honestly, I still can’t believe it. It’s like I need to keep pinching myself to make sure it’s real. But overall, the support I’ve gotten from everyone, not just my friends and family, but from the public as well is just overwhelming. It certainly keeps me on track.

Well that’s what they’re there for. Your album is called ‘Reality.’ What motivated you to choose this name, and what types of songs can we expect to find from it?

Erm, mainly past experiences that I’ve faced, and life in general. I chose ‘Reality’ as it’s unique and powerful. This album is about expressing myself, showing the reality of my life, and stuff I’ve been through, so it just seemed like the perfect name. When it comes down to the tracks, there’s a bit of everything. I wanted it to be a mixture of mid-tempo and up-tempo, which is what you will find in the album.

Sounds great. And the name does bring off a powering vibe. You wrote all the songs from the album yourself. Where did you get the inspiration from? Was it easy to write?

Like I said previously, just past experiences. My family and friends are a big inspiration to me in different ways, so that really helped. Also, other artists such as Rihanna and Nicole Scherzinger inspired me through their music. I actually write best in my bedroom.  I have books filled with lyrics. My concentration seems to be the best when I’m in bed, so I would just write endlessly. So yeah, it was fairly easy. It used to really annoy my mum though. Good times.

I’d love to see those books! Did you ever think your single ‘I Found You’ was going to go straight to number 1 in the charts?

Nope, never! Another thing I still can’t believe (laughs) I’m very, very grateful though.

Well it happened, so you better believe it! Rumours have it that collaborations are also included. Who are the artists?

Well that would be telling now, wouldn’t it? You’ll just have to wait and see! (Laughs)

Oh well, was worth a shot. Would you compare yourself to other artists such as Lady GaGa, Rihanna, and Cheryl Cole?

No, never. They each have their own style, which is what they’re recognised for. As much as I would love to, I don’t think I could live up to the standards they’ve created. Each artist has their own persona, which is different from others. It wouldn’t be entertaining if everyone was the same right? I’ve got my own style, which I hope appeals to the public.

That’s very true. By the response you’ve got so far, it looks like the public love what you’re doing. So what’s next in line for you? Direct us through the upcoming months. A tour maybe?

It’s funny that you mention a tour. I actually just finalised the tour dates yesterday, but I’m not allowed to give that information out just yet. But before all that takes place, I’ve just got photo-shoots and CD signings to do, which I’m really excited about.

Okay, enough serious talk! Time for a random question. Our readers would like to know if you’re single or not? If yes, who’d be your ideal boyfriend?

(Laughs) Yes, I’m very much single. Ideal boyfriend? I don’t know about that…I’m very hard to impress. (Laughs)

Well, there you go boys; you’ve found yourself a challenge. Well that’s it for today. But thanks so much for your time, and good luck with everything you do. We look forward to meeting you again soon!

Thanks so much, and likewise. Bye!
